There comes a time when help is needed from a registered professional to cope with many of life’s challenges. I am a qualified and registered Mental Health Nurse, Clinical Hypnotherapist, Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner and Coach in the North East of England, working at various locations across Newcastle and Northumberland and I’m here to support you on your journey toward healing, recovery, self-discovery and fulfilment.

Hello everyone, I'm Paul, a qualified and registered Mental Health Nurse, Therapist, and Coach. My Therapeutic offer includes, Hypnotherapy, Transformational Coaching, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Services can be tailored to your specific needs, offering a singular therapeutic modality or a blended and integrated approach depending on your issues, needs or challenges. An integrated offer provides access to multiple approaches, techniques, coping strategies, self-reliance, and resilience.

 

Once we reach a shared understanding of your challenges, we will focus our time on interventions and skills to help you achieve your goals. Specifically, we will challenge the negative and self-limiting thoughts and beliefs that are holding you back, serving no positive purpose to you. Striving for acceptance is also key to creating and maintaining change. Other techniques include positive affirmations, breathwork, and mindfulness; designed to work with you in your daily routines, building positive daily habits is proven to increase self-reliance and resilience, meaning goals can be sustained.

Sessions with myself will ensure you feel safe and listened to, without judgement. You will find sessions enable you to open up, express exactly how you feel, and be equipped to carry on our work outside of sessions.

HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnotherapy is a mind-body intervention in which hypnosis is used to create a state of focused attention and increased suggestibility in the treatment of a medical or psychological disorder or concern. Hypnosis will lead you into a deeply relaxed state, use your agreed methods to help you towards your goals (for example, suggesting that you do not want to carry out a certain habit). During Hypnosis you will be in a trance state, remain awake, be aware of your surrounding, and what is happening. It is important to note that you will remain in control and can end the trance/session at any time.

COACHING

The essence of coaching is to help you change in the way you wish and guide you in the direction you want to go. Coaching can support you at every level in becoming who you want to be, builds awareness, empowers choice and leads to change. Put simply, coaching is a process that aims to improve performance and focuses on the 'here and now' rather than on the distant past or future. Coaching can help you to identify skills to be developed, key strengths, and strategies for improvement, it is dilemma specific and goal focussed.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) works on negative thoughts, feelings and behaviour cycles that cause distress. CBT is a structured approach and is aimed at particular problems. Often, intervention can be brief or take place over a longer period (up to 20 sessions) depending on the nature of the problem. CBT has a strong evidence base for effectiveness and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends CBT for Depression, Anxiety, Panic, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) among other problems.

Insurance, Membership, Appointments and Fees

Insurance and Memberships:
I have Professional Civil Liability and Public Indemnity Insurance. I hold memberships with The General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC), The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), and The British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapist (BABCP).  I attend regular clinical supervision and training to aid learning, enhance knowledge and skills, and ensuring I am a safe practitioner. 

Appointments and Fees:
If you would like to discuss your options, want to know more about the sessions, are uncertain if therapy or coaching is right for you, including session fees, I am happy to discuss this with you and answer any questions.

Before arranging an appointment, I offer a short 10-minute telephone consultation where I will ask for a brief outline of your situation, your current difficulties and your goals in order to make sure I can help.
